Holmes 1963 S. pomarinus 22 July Barrow, Alaska Birds for the nest E1 b.r. t and J. Brown. Wannaja seen by Phil Johnson to take 2 egg from a Sandpiper nest (sp?) There 2 civil large holes poked in them. No one near the wannaja. 23 July At the south end I showed censes plot- A bird was seen to attack a § Spectacled Eider - by during at he Several times - at which she waddled off into a pool. The jaeger still kept at her - flying low - hovering above her - while she splashed water with her beating wings. Finally, she took flight & the jaeger did not follow. The actual maneuver made by the § & the jaeger were not observed accurately - since we all happened to be about 30 sec. 26 July A pair (jaegers) was at least 1 chick (landed) - saw 1 would be flown - so 1 less (decreased). - The nest was not found this season. 29 July See journal for acct of predator - shrewbird 4 Aug Several wandering old jaeger seen a both flew off slowly - must we be flying squirrel or above ground - but we were evidently hunting.
