3 June Barrow, Alaska
Two lone individuals seen between the
central marsh trapline + exclusion + Westeschlog
slough. However, [illegible] east along the road
about the slough, there were what appeared
to be 2 pairs - all light phase, sitting
+ flying. Again, as with Thigrels, no feeding
activity was noted.
4 June - Several "pairs" and individuals were seen
along Red-back Ridge + near Skroavik. Birds
were hunting - in the air, but none were seen
to land - for prey. (Some were seen sitting but
these apparently were not hunting).
5 June An estimated 30 birds seen between the
camp, Bechtridge, Westeschley Slough
+ Elson Lagoon. One individual was in dark
phase; the remainder in light. Many seemed to
be hunting, but none were seen to catch a lemming.
6 June Seen communal between Footprint + Skroavik
during the afternoon. (10-15 birds) - all hunting.
-all in light phase.
7 June Mostly individuals seen today - (HOT) at the
beach ridge, along Elson Lagoon + near
near VOT's Area. All were in light phase.
No catches seen, but Muller apparently
observed me yesterday.
9 June - Several pairs noted in Footprint
Lake; These would have been seen until the
