Holmes,R. 1966 Stercorarius pomarinus 30aug Barrow, Alaska On 28 Aug, the remains of a partially-eaten grega chick were found near trapline XIII in the fertility plots. About 40 feet away was the body of a juvenile Snowy Owl (band #160). It appeared that the young owl had killed the chick and had then been attacked by the adult jaeger which had injured it bodily. It was then able to move away (it gave up a pellet containing a legs foot) before it died. On the same day, another chick was discovered dead (only feathers remaining) near trapline XIV. Both these juvenile jaegers had been dead at least several weeks and both were unable to fly at the time. Their death (D.F.- flight feathers not developed enough for flying). Today a third incident was found about 200 yards NE of the trapline at the edge of the polygons. Here another chick, juvenile jaeger female was
