Holmes, R. 1960 Stercorarius pomarinus 8. 2 July Skroavik, Alaska The nest in front of the wanijan contained 1 young this morning and the second egg to begin hatching. The nest near the Slough (N. 1st wanija) had 1 young present but not sit. The second young could not be found. 3 July - a pair of jaegers where both members of the pair are melanistic was found near. NE shore of Skroavik. 7 July Barrow, Alaska Many 1st jaeger nests are now hatched & the young are extremely difficult to find. 9 July Skroavik, Alaska A pair of Steller's Eiders landed on a pond behind the wanijan, a jaeger began to swoop down at them, nabbed them alive. This went on for - minutes - when the jaeger would fly at + attack (?) The eiders took some time to see food. Finally the jaegers sat on the water & cooperated when they came up. After another minute of this, Redhead left the pond, leaving
