Holmes,R 1959 Stercorarius Pomarinus 15. 23july Barrow, Alaska released in the same area. The adult did not became to excite when I found this young bird, but it was in good shape, as they had apparently been feeding it. A slight distraction display has been noted with the paired nest #3 and not in #1. The female will land on the ground 30-40 yards away, then fly and waddle away from the tundra, apparently wanting him to follow. Occasionally the wings are dropped slightly and the head may be held out horizontally. These foragers are steel rather common, and at any one time, at least 5 or 6 can be seen flying over the tundra. 27july Barrow, Alaska The nest #1 was checked at 1300 and the 1 remaining young were still active and the adults were still defending. 29july Barrow, Alaska Few jaegers are now seen on the tundra, and some seem to be seen over the ocean.
