Holmes,R. 1957 Streperaum pomarinus 20 July Barrow, Alaska adults were there showing sign of disturbance as I approached. However, after an hours search, The chicks could not be found. When Nest #1 was disturbed by checking the nest area putting up the fence, the adults became quite excited and would fly around with a downward swoop at me. Also at that time, 7 other jays gather around harassing the nesting pair, so I had all these birds to chase. I before I was attacked again. 26 July Barrow, Alaska Several were seen near Nuwuk along the coast. 22 July Barrow, Alaska Nest #1 was still piggling. The adult birds were very excited. #3 was chated and no chicks were found. Two jays were present, but did not become excited upon my approach. 23 July Barrow, Alaska Nest #1 contained 4 downy young at 1300. Nest #3 was still deserted, but one young was found about 20 yards away among some high polysom. It was handled and
