The nests were checked during the afternoon.
Nest #1 (No. 1 Footprint lake) still had
two eggs. The adults were not too
excited upon our approach and put
flin about giving a jird-like call.
The rather so on a pilyga which is cover
with moss and lichens with an interspersin
of grass and sedge. There is actually very
little vegetation present around the depression
when the eggs are laid. Nest #2, SE
of Footprint lake, was destroyed. The two
egg shells were present with holes in
them. Apparently an owl or other fayer
had destroyed the nest. The nest also
was a slight mound covered
with moss and a little grass sedge.
The adults were not seen for sure;
however, several jaegers were seen
hunting in the same vicinity. A
new nest was discovered only
west side (Footprint lake). At 1630
