Stercorarius pomarinus
15 June Barrow, Alaska
Had been swallowed during the hunt. Birds were seen all afternoon in the drum area and on it. Aggressive behavior was noted twice by two different individuals in different places. Both times it consisted of chasing another gull away from where the aggressor had been sitting. These were chased for about 20 yards and then the bird came back to his original position.

At least 3 and probably 4 pairs seem to be settled in the area between the end of the north area & gasoline room with the west to the row of tripods-like poles. They were noted defending their territories several times. One was also seen carrying cleaning in its bill.
17 June Barrow, Alaska
One pair seems to be settled in the drum area and possibly one by the dump. The one in the drum area was seen to chase a Short-eared Owl out of the area. The owl circled back once, but was quickly chased out again. About 5-6 birds were seen in the vicinity.
