Holmes,R. 1959 Stercorarius pomarinus 7 June Barrow, Alaska. 11 Birds seen near the Nest at 1400-1430. They were all flying Eastward. 8 June Barrow Village, Alaska. 1 bird in dark phase seen flying in from the ocean and North over the Tundra. At Newahigh and direct course. 9 June Barrow, Alaska. 9 birds seen flying inland from the sea near the Voth area. 2 others noted flying inland just W. of the Base. 12 June Barrow, Alaska At least 5 of these birds were seen Friday west of the Voth's Stragh Area. One pair (a dark phase to a light phase) was seen with another pair light phase birds. The first pair were quicker, chased out of area by the light pair, but they all were seen in fairly close association about an hour later. The light phase pair were noted counting.
