Phalaropus fulicarius
6.
17 July Barrow - Kenoaik, Alaska
had been destroyed. Many 3rd are beginning to molt.
19 July Barrow, Alaska
Several broods were located today
near 10th's nest at Rinaldi ridge. Some
individuals were collected, others were
banded. One individual just north
of 10th's area was near a nest
old and was not too far from being
able to fly. The 3rd were with
these broods, but they did not
become especially excited when
I was present.
21 July Kenoaik, Alaska
The nest on the north part of foot
contained three eggs when
I arrived. The 3rd were not
present. 3rd were seen occasionally
during the day, but only 1 brood
was found (+banded).
25 July Barrow, Alaska
Several 3rd and their broods were
encountered north of 10th's area. The
young vary in size from 1-2 days
old to almost flying. Five
fledged 3rd were seen at larger pools.
