Holmes, R. 1960 5. Phalaropus fulicarius 14 July Barrow, Alaska A large flock of 30-60 birds seen in the plot area near 20.3 - 20.4. Most (There were 98 but a few) 85 were mixed in. This is the first by flock noted this year. The 85 are still generally scattered over the tundra, but occasionally, several are seen together as a pair or closing over the tundra. No phalarope young have yet been reported. 17 July Barrow - Akkavaq, Alaska Most (The 98 have left, and 85) are now the only ones seen. In fact, there now appear to be flocks of 85 or more which were feeding foraging or if they were through nesting. When flushed they fly off above the area. No broods have been seen yet by anyone (except I possibly in by Wobry). The last by the pond N01 The waning had left the tundra
