19 August Barrow, Alaska
along the waterfront between
the gasoline pool and the
north end of the base. There
were just at the edge 7
the water and were apparently
trying to ride out the storm.
2 weeks estimate between 1500-2000
were present - all were immatures
21 August Barrow, Alaska
4 immature seen in Footprint
Lake. No others noted on the
tundra, but 100's were present
along the ocean edge. All 7
these were immatures.
23 August Barrow, Alaska
About 600 birds were present
along the shore in front of the
base. These were all immatures,
and even feeding among the
chumbers that were present.
26 August Barrow, Alaska
Three individuals seen in
Footprint Lake. One was collected
and had begun to molt its
dorsal feather. A flock 7
were seen flying over middle
saltcoast lagoon.
