"R. Zweifel 1953 Journal 7mi. 5W El Vergel (Yaguita) 7800', Chihuahua July 4 Collected and prepared a warbler, robin and ground squirrel in the morning. Rain in the afternoon and early evening inhibited any further collecting activity. Another Thamnophilus evans was purchased from a Mexican. Birds present at this campsite include robin, western bluebird, Andes-on warbler, olive warbler, red-faced warbler, flicker, acorn woodpecker, turkey vulture, Cassin's kingbird, Steller's jay, red-backed juncos, killdeer, chuckadee (sp?), screech owl (sp?, by voice), horned owl (by voice). Trap lines for small mammals have yielded only Peromyscus. One gopher was taken in the flat by the stream. Workings are present throughout the forest. Specimens of gray squirrel, ground squirrel (C. lateralis typa) and chipmunks have been taken. (min. temp. 49°, max. 78°F) July 5 Camp was broken this morning and we drove back to Panal, reaching there about 8:30 in the evening.
