R. Zweifel 1953 Journal 7 mi. SW El Tejel (Yagunita) 7800', Chihuahua, Mexico July 3 Bill got a small skink and three garter snakes were taken, two T. infipunctatus and a T. errans. Ambystoma larvae were present in the stream, I caught three of four seen. Bill shot a water ouzel. Red fared warblers were seen, and red backed juniper (mutton trucks) were common. A few trout were seen in the stream. Between Arroyo Cuevo Blanco and Junas Ranch, the forest loses some of the monotonous yellow pine aspect present at our camp, through the addition of oak, madrone and junipers Collecting on a level, open stand of yellow pine I found a Cervalus princei coiled beneath a 4" diameter log on dry soil. Sceloporus grammicus was common here. While we were looking for Eleutherodactylus in the rocks near our campsite, I caught a Cervulus molossus. This was after dark, and not too long after the afternoon and early evening showers had let up. An Eleutherodactylus was also taken. Todays minimum temperature was 51°F, the maximum 83°F.
