R. Zweifel 1953 Thamnophis melanogaster Rio Florido at Camitelo, 6100', Durango, Mexico 2359 R2 July 6 Dorsal stripe pale brownish yellow, distinct to the base of the tail. Dorsal body surface dark brown. Venter pale yellow anteriorly, developing a grayish suffusion posteriorly. Row of scales below lateral line gray. Tongue black except for basal area which is flesh colored.
