R. Zweifel 1953 Masticophis taeniatus ornatus 1.3 mi. N Bacheras, 6500', Chihuahua, Mexico 2247 R2 June 26 Seen striking its head out of a rock pile by the roadside in an overgrazed pinon-oak forest. The light & dark crossbanded effect is strong on the anterior 2/3 of the body. Venter suffused with gray, anteriorly. Subcandal surface yellow-red, fading out on the last 30 ventrals.
