R. Zweifel 1953 Pteronula fodene 11 mi N El Oasis (45mi N Hermosillo) 2100', Sonora, Mexico 2592-3 RZ July 20 Calling from the edge of a roadside rain pool after dark. 10 mi N Benjamin Hill, Sonora, Mexico Another breeding chorus characteristically located in a rain pool. On a previous trip to Sonora (1950), much of this same country was covered at night in rainy weather, but no Pteronula were detected. This was in mid-August. Probably the Pteronula bred during the early summer rains and then set retro. We collected several at Hermosilla, but most were juveniles.
