Imi. & N Mazatlan' 100', Sinaloa, Mexico
July 15
We went into town for supplies and stopped by the beach for a swim. Found and caught a couple of Callisaurus draconoides bogerti on the sand just above the high tide mark. These are essentially topotypes, the dual type locality being Mazatlan' and one of the nearby islands.
Starting out shortly after sundown, we drove the main highway to a point 20 miles north of our camp and luck again. We found a Iimmorphodon spencimulatus and three Rhinocleilus lecenti ontani, two of the latter fresh DOR. A DOR case of some sort was not saved. Three Agalychnis dacnicolor were found out on the road and two Bufo livonilis. We did not stop for all anurans. The road surface was dry, there having been no rain since yesterday morning.
Although climatic conditions were good for collecting (no moon, no rain, good temperature), the road itself is unfavorable, in that it is usually built up well above the surrounding countryside so that a snake must cross a ditch and climb up 10'-20' of shoulder to get onto the road.
Todays minimum temperature 73°F, maximum 94°F. No rain at all today.
