Zweifel 1953 193 Journal May 3 6 miles south of Santa Monica in rolling grass hills with no trees (native) at all, a Ostricophis latuialis was found drier. A few patches of sagelonds are spotted in- between of the native vegetation. Reservation Canyon, 2 mi. E San Luis Obispo, San Luis Obispo Co., Calif. Reached the main stream in the canyon without finding any amphitrite. 1.2 mi from the highway a tributary stream enters. In this stream I collected six Triturus torosana, 1 Rana aurora and 1 Rana boylii. Other frogs of both species were seen. The stream was about 4' wide and 6" deep, extcept where there were pools 1 or more deep and up to 8' wide. The Triturus were in the pools. This is on the chagomel left, with long dew oak and sycamores on the canyon bottom. The poison oak tree is the lushest I've ever seen. It overhangs the stream in great canopies-
