Oct. 4 After leaving the meadow at Dornington, the stream assumes a steeper gradient, flowing on bed rock much of this way. Small waterfalls and pools are numerous. Frogs were abundant along the stream here and under lean when the gradient was less steep, and the rocks in the stream away about 1"m diameter. The upper part of the stream is in thick yellow pine, sugar pine, white fir forest. About 1/2 mi downstream a crested road which crosses the stream and fire proceeds down beside it. From this point on there has been considerable logging. Now the stream is shallower with smaller rocks. No frogs found below this point. Temperatures recorded - stream 13.5°C. (about 8) fall in shadow 10.5°C DT 18.8°C, air and rock 22.6, water 9.8 - 11 am DT 25.6 , air 22.8, rock 25.8, water 10.4 - noon DT 21.4, air 20.2, rock 19.6, water 10.4, rock moist
