Rana boylii
209
Marsh Cr, 6.3 mi SE Clayton, Contra Costa Co. Calif.
A total of 19 seen, 14 of those captured. Juveniles nears. Water 9.4 to 10.0° C. The stream is clear now, but in some pools there is 3-4" of fine red silt. Two Rana aurea were seen. The extensive growth of juniper and cattails is starting to move from last fall's equinox and borne devastation,
at least in that portion of the stream
near the bridge, where stock seems to
be absent now.
An attempt to produce ovulation in one of the
females failed. Dissection of the three
adult females in its group developed all
to be in post breeding condition!
One small F, SV 43 mm, contained large ova.
