P. Zweifel April 28, 1952 Journal 39 I caught a Diadeghis 3.3 mi ENE of Woody, a new southerly record for the Sierras. Batrachoseps also was taken here, as well as at other stations along one route from White River to Woody. Crotalus and Thamnophis s. coulii also were collected 3.3 mi ENE Woody. April 29, 1952 The Kern River canyon for most of its lower region is of very arid aspect, the hill sides being at best covered with sparse diggaringo and live oak. But where small creeks flow down to enter the Kern, there are local strips of mesic conditions on its mountainsides. At one of these, Stark Creek, 18 mi. ENE Bakersfield, I found an adult Ensatina under a rock. At [illegible] onohera, Cow Flat Creek, 20 mi. ENE Bakersfield, we collected a Diadeghis, 7 Smalgylls, a Herthondre multivirminative, 2 Ensatinia and several Batrachoseps. The Bats are of special interest in that they me the largest B. attenuata I recall. Yet they still look very unlike B. pacificus. We stopped for lunch at Hoho Hot Springs and thus collected along Clear Creek, Hyla regila, Cnemexa gielerti, Uta, Herthondre, and Rana boylii. One of the skinks seems to be a gielerti x subicandatu.
