At Camp Wishon, 4000' elevation, Triturus were very abundant. We collected 23 and could have taken many more. This is in the yellow pine - some cedar forest. A single adult Rana boylii was found here. The main stream is still much too high to harbor any frogs.
Since it was cold and threatening rain at this altitude, we went back down the canyon to camp at Coffee Camp Ground on the Middle Fork of the Tule River.
Only a few small R. boylii were taken here.

The rain caught up with us at about 2:30 this morning and made the night rather miserable for us. We broke camp early and went to Porterville for Breakfast. From Porterville we drove to White River, Glennville and Woody, camping in the oil fields between Woody and Bakersfield.
We tried frog collecting in a creek near Glennville but had no luck, the water being very high. The road over the Hunger Mountain was closed, hence the route via Woody. Young Cummins gilberti collected near White River, Tulare Co. and Woody, Kern Co., are of interest in that they show no subspeciation influence, the tails being wholly blue.
