P. Zweifel April 26, 1952 Journal 37. Fresno County, 6 Sceloporus occidentalis, 1 Eumeces gilberti and 1 Herpetostes michisonius (Hydra regilla and Batrachsepa also present); Cottonwood Creek between Auckland and Elderwood, Tulare Co, 3 eumeces gilberti; April 27, 1952 Last nights minimum temperature (with the thermometer on the ground in its box) was 45°F (8°C). In a few minutes collecting before breakfast I caught 3 more skinks and a small striped racer. Keith also picked up a couple of skinks. From this camp we drove south to Porterville and then east on Hwy 190 to Camp Wisher at the end of the road on the North Fork of the middle fork of the Tulare River. Two miles east of Springville Keith caught a Diadophis which unfortunately later escaped. In a stream 8.7 mi by road ENE of Springville I caught 7 S. boylii and Keith a garter snake (conclusi) and a skink. The yellow pine - mense cedar forest is well developed downstream a little from where we collected, - it follows the Tulare River canyon down. At the collection site cotton oak, sycamore and birch are present with only two or three yellow pines nearby.
