R. Zweifel 137 Diadophis amelinis May 13, 1952 0.2 mi. N Paicines, San Benito Co., Calif. 1860 R. Zweifel (collected by S.K. Carnie) "... State Highway to Hollister 50 yds S of junction of state highway & Willow Grove School Rd. - W. side of highway (25yds off) on grassy covered sandy hill slope - some oak about." The snake was found near an Annelia which was freshly dead. When placed on a rock with the Annelia, the Diadophis ate the slug at first but later regurgitated it. Mid-ventral. - closest to Orange Chrome, deepering to Flame Scarlet ab 2" in front of the vent Sub caudal. - between Scarlet & Brazie Red Mid-dorsal. - between Dark Olive-Grey and Iron Grey Ventral colors up 1/2 above the length of the body. Orange of supra-labials paler than ventral, but fairly well defined above. Neck ring fairly broad, deeper in color than center. Ventral spotting moderately light. 5I-322 amn
