R. Zweifel Uta stansburiana hepersis 111 Feb. 2, 1952 W Mulholland Dr., 1 mi. Topanga Canyon Road, Los Angeles Co, Calif. In the Santa Monica Mountains, Uta does not seem to range much to the east of Topanga Canyon, although west of that canyon the lizard is abundant East of Topanga Canyon, the mountains are composed largely of shales and granodiorites which permits a heavy growth of chaparral, rather completely blanketing the mountains. West of Topanga, there are numerous great sandstone outcrops which break up the chaparral and seem to provide the necessary open area for Uta
