Triturus torosus aureus
64
State Highway 160 at 5000' elev.
Fresno Co., Calif.
A 2:45 P.M a juvenile was found walking
up a rocky bank beside a stream. The
mountain slope here is steep - close to 30°.
Yellow pine, mountain cedar, bay and
live oak (Q wislizeni?) are present, but
the presence of many shrubby oaks
modifies the Tsonarian-zone aspect.
Keith and Cynthia collected six adults
along the side of the road nearby.
Sky cloudy - no sun breaking through.
Ground surface temperature when the
juvenile was collected 8.6°C.
