Aneides lugubris
2 mi. NW Calistoga, 610'; Napa Co., Calif.
Four of twelve lugubris collected here uttered a mouse-like squeak when handled. This was voluntary on the part of the salamander, and not a physical result of handling, as it was done while the salamander was resting in the open hand.
See species account of A. flavipunctata for habitat data.
