wife Oct. 10, 1952 Butte Co., Calif. Left Berkeley this morning at 6:30 with Dr. Stibnis, drove to Chico reading time at 10:15 and then on to Butte Meadow. A young striped racer (latialis) which had eaten a Sceloporus occidentalis was found FOR 10 mi by road NE Chico. Digits pin and bay were prominent here. We arrived at Butte Meadows at noon and after lunch looked for frogs along Big Butte Creek but found none, a large Clemmys was seen here. We next drove to Coon Hollow (see species accounts) where we collected 12 Hana aurora cacadae and 3 Rana boylii croisas. Dr. Stibnis also found an adult Ambystoma macrodactylum beneath a log by a small stream tributary to the main stream. We returned to Butte Meadows to camp.
