of Hyla regilla at about 7:00 AM, but
we could find no Rana. The elevation
here is 7750' according to the Auto Club
Map (Mono-Stonelake Outing Map).*
Where the road crosses the Upper
Truckee River we found a single
Rana boylii aerial in a pool beside
the swollen stream. Bill found it
sitting on a log in the pond.
Driving down highway 50, we stopped
several times to look for frogs in the
American River but couldn't find any.
Culax constrictor momon was found in
a grassy clearing in the yellow pine forest.
At Weber Cr., 2.2 mi w of Pleasant Grove,
at the yellow pine - dugger pine border zone
we stopped to collect four Rana b. boylii
and a small Clemmys. No further collecting
was done on the way back to Berkeley.
*A dar Thamnophis s. elegans was found
here beside a snowbank.
