Zweifel Aug 21, 1950 We crossed the border in fine style, with no inspection at all in the Mexican side and not so much on the American. The border men were more interested in playing with one of the live boars. Reeder has decided to return to Los Angeles rather than stay for a week in Arizona with me. He claims that work calls him back, but we know better. So we put him on the 4:20 for L.A. out of Tucson and returned north to camp in Madera Canyon in the Santa Rita Mountains. Aug 22, 1950 We have camped in the Oaks at the end of the road in Madera Canyon. This morning we hiked up the canyon into the pines. On the way up and back we collected a score of 19 Sceloporus jarrovii. These lizards are very easy to come by, & caught almost every adult I tried for. S. jarrovii was the only lizard seen in this upper part of the
