Zwerfel Aug. 3, 1950 was not saved. The settlers were collected at night as was a large adult Rhinoceros cicuta. We continued on through Hermosillo and drove south until about 11:30 PM. This was intermittent rain some in the form of very heavy thundershowers. Staphisius coulii was breeding m roadside pools giving that lidos call. A single Bufo punctatus was collected from a roadside pool where it was singing. at 11:20 PM 30.6 mi S I Hermosillo, we found a Discus [illegible] crossing the road. This specimen is about 175 miles NW of the previous recorded northern limit. (Scuba actually a scub-a into king snake) We made camp 52 miles N of Guaymas and were rained on much of the night. The vegetation at this site is rather sparse consisting of scattered cactus Palo verde and mesquite trees separated by bar ground. Aug 4, 1950 Found lots of lizards here this morning. The scarcity of ground cover makes them more evident.
