R. Zweifel 319 Diadophis amblygaster occidentalis Mar. 4, 1951 0.5 mi W Stagg Springs, Mono Co., Calif. Two individuals (1337, 1338) found beneath rocks at the roadside have almost identical color: Mid-ventral area - Flame Scarlet; sub-caudal area - Scarlet; dorsal surface - Dark Olive Gray. SV 259 mm ; SV 245 mm. The lower half of the first six supra-labials is colored the same as the ventrals. This color is edged superiorly with black. The ventral color covers the first two rows of dorsal scales. Ventral spotting is very sparse.
