Ensatina eschscholtzii klauberi

Aug. 18, 1951
Descanso, San Diego Co., Calif.
At a campfire program three weeks ago I
showed a slide of Ensatina and after the
program a family from Descanso told
me that they had such salamanders
around their place. I expressed a desire
for them, and tonight they showed up
with one. The day on which I talked to them
(July 28th) was the day of our best
rainstorm. On that evening they found
the little salamander crawling into
their house under a door. They kept
it for three weeks for me - until tonight
(Mrs. Silva, Descanso).
