Zwei fe Aug 16, 1919 inmate the ponds in the arroyo negro. Rana pipiens is very abundant along the streams. When the water is too deep they seek refuge by diving in, but in other places they are just as apt to leap away from the waters. I found a large Drymarchus out on a small fly which grew from the south vertical side of the canyon. I tried to knock it down with an uppe stalk, but the snake reached the upper edge of the bank (about 12' lugh high) and escaped. An adult Coluber stimulatus seen by the water's edge did a lightning fast fade out & disappeared. On the way back, Clayton spotted a Thelerothio threaded thought the top 1 inches of a tree about 4' tall. This one, I caught, but with many wounds from the thorn forest.
