Don Strangey r & left MVZ ~ 10 a.m., arrived at Swanson Mdr. Cuydgr ~ 2:30 p.m. S side of Shawer Lake, NW of Shona Lake 21 Sept. 0700 at Swanson mdr (T. 105, R. 25E, NE 1/4 sec. 6), clear cold (in 50) wmbreeze. Heard P. B Nut., Red Chickadee drove to coll., local at T. 105, R. 25E, NW sec. 4 - sport from 0745-2:30p in area. So essentially a mead of exposed granite (some vlyc boulder) + large flat expanses of rock, patches shrubs (manzanita & ceanothus) range in size, height, density. Some Ribs + scattered pockets Quercus, many cons of Pinus lambertiana on ground, + other conifers. Bird activity throughout day was spotty. Don wanted to collect Entominae & Spermophilius. Peak activity was ~ 8:30am - 10:00. Afternoon was quiet but not too warm. Many Sceloporus excultus were out in at midday (coll. 1 = P.MR #69). Also coll. 1 Alligator lizard in wet grass - turned out to be & ready to give birth, we got ("near born") (pickled) - Don caught one while log
