Stanislaus Nat. Forest, Tuolumne Co., CA.
27 May Departed Berkeley 1600 + took Hwy's 13, 680, 580,
120 to Sonora (Tuolumne Co., Calif.). Contacted
warden Vincent Dona + found he's retired so
called warden in Twain Harte (Fred Aulwurm)
+ informed him via message to daughter that
I'll be collecting in area for few days. Mr. Dona
suggested that I drive to Tuolumne + take
Cottonwood Rd. for 18 miles to an area
that burned 4-5 years ago. After getting
several vague directions from locals I
found Blackman Rd - from which Cotton
wood is supposed to branch off from (at
a small bridge). At such a location I
found 2 roads + took the center one:

I followed this for 18 miles (from just above)
bet found no burned over areas. There
were some open areas w/ dense, low brush
but of no great extent + I saw no Fox sparrow.
The couple times I stopped. The forest is
apparently fairly extensively logged but is
still impressive. There are numerous dirt
