R.M.Zink 1978 Journal Lassen Peak area Shasta Co California (6mi N, 7mi E Lassen pk 7400') 27 July Hunted brush along rd from 0700-0830 - clear, cool sl breeze Coll. 4 Fox Sp. Saw/heard: 2 Bt. Pigeon, 2 Nut Chickadee, B.t. Pig 2 tall dead trees O.S. Flycatcher 2 " " " , calling Empidonax 4+ brush, tail wagging, calling Clark Nutcracker 5 tops tree - apparently flying through trees ?"""" Nutthrush 1 Blue Creeper 1 " ? Great Titchee 1 heard in trees, fairly certain Mtl. Chickadee 4+ brush + tree Nashville Warbler 10+ brush both adt + juv, many in heavy melt Yellow Warbler 16+ " Andson Wail 2+ tree, singing faintly? Juncos 5+ brush - flo/lo just passed This area has some fairly extensive stretches of brush + paths interspersed w dead + live trees; woodland/o forest. Some ties: Red White Fir, aspruce, Ponderosa Pine. While working on birds thought I heard another (?) flock of Red Crossbills. Hunted again 615pm - 7am + got 4 Pidge. Saw essentially the above list (w/o Clark Nutcracker). These seem to be a fairly sizeable aggregation of Yell + Nashville Wail in the brush. 28 July Hunted 0700-0900, clear, cool sl breeze. Coll. 6 Fox Sp. Saw some as yesterday + a put juv. Mt. Chickadee - & 2+ birds giving a throat-like call from the brush. Still a movement of warblers through brush. Went to local Creek for supplies. Hunted 5:30pm to 9:30pm. Very still evening - sl breeze, cool rain + very
