25 July cont'
Took rd to Willow Creek & then to Pac Crest Trail. We also went down rd to Greenbore mine - along this rd there's a fairly large brushfield - along rim of Feather River (top of canyon). Drove back along Lookout Rock to rd to Quincy. Drove N to S end of Lassen Vol. Park. Talked to bartender in Mineral & a forader - the rd. W of park i.e. did & ascents to a brushy area & then descents to Viola. Also, from Hwy 36/89 go from Mineral to Dry Lake, take Amalfi to rt (50E) that same time to Hwy 36/89 & this also passes a burn area. Ended up driving through the park - did see 2 Fox sp. & 1,000's of S end of Park in a brushy area. The park goes 8000' + is a fantastic drive. There's still lots of snow 7000' + Summit Lake was still mostly covered by ice.

26 July 0600 - Rain + clouds. 0630 drove along Hwy 49/89 where there's a lot of brush along rd. Stopped at a pt. & saw 1 Fox sp, but the area are too close to rd. Took rd to Ashford Flat & took another rd to Red Mtn. Much of the forest has been cleared but there's little or no brush. Stopped a Forest Service truck - they suggested a drive rd to Badger Pass & West Prospect pk. Along Hwy 49/89 at the Vistard, then an old burn (T32N, R 4E, sec. 13) but at 4700'. The rd ascends & gets to an extensive brushfield (at 6000') at
