R.M.Zink 1978 Journal 6500'-6700' T.15W, R.16E, NE¼sec.14 Lake Tahoe Region, Uni: E Ward Pk., Place Co. California. 14 July coll Returned to car & worked on birds. At 4:00pm drove to Hwy 89 for supplies. Stopped at Forest Lane Infirnt William Kent & talked to Kathy Doyle (a former 208/187 student Zydp). She had several suggestions for places to try & I followed one- from Hwy 89 take Pine[illegible] Drive, one block turn R on Tahoe Park Heights & go to Top of hill ([...]), then take ctrd to Silver Tip Ave Big Pines Rd & go left - main rd. curb, take dirt rd around fence. It first was skeptical as it was near housing but the road goes on for quite a ways (was stopped by muddy rd condition), there is a good deal of mixed brush & conifer along rd. In about 45 min. coll. 5 Fox sp. & saw several others. Also saw: And. Warbl, Bm-h. conbird, w.tan, Mt. Chicka, Bb-b, nuthatch, 18th June. 15 July From 0645-0730 coll. 8 Fox sp again - seems to be best time of day. There are patches (and thus scattered) among the space to dense forest. Also saw/heard: 2+ Harn't Thrush, Sage-sucker, 4th Chickadee, Bb-b, nuthatch, 3rd Audub. Warbl, 2+ West.tan, 2nd Solen Jay, Bm-h. Conbird. Worked on birds till 7:00pm. went back to Forest Ln. Infirnt Stayerd at Sugar Pines (campout 4:00) - but not showers. 16 July Drove to Uni: E Ward Pk at 0630 & collected until Jean coll 28th 11 0830. Coll. 6 Fox sp. Saw/heard: Hairy Woodp, Sage-sucker Heard Queilt, 2nd Will.Warbler 2+ And. Warbler, 2nd Hermit Thrush, Mt. Chickadee Nuthatch (R.B?), 3rd Solen Jay, 2nd West.Tanage, 2nd Bm-h conbird, 5th Junco, Parula-like ascending buzz. Returned to car
