R.M. Zink 1978 Journal Lake Tahoe Region, Rd to Baker Pass Wb T. 15N, R. 16E/33 13 July AM There were some brushy areas on the Baker Creek but of no great extent. Briefly hunted a couple of acres & saw/heard Fox Sparrow, C.t. Taka, Kestrel, 2 Aud. Warbl, Junco, Redpoll. Returned to car & proceeded W or N from 89 + stopped at place where rd was too rough. Walked to sec. 33 (see catalog) & formed a fairly extensive food plot + saw 2 Fox Sp + saw many others. This hopefully will be good local as it's only a few miles from the "Tahoe Tavern" sited at the mid-1920s. The entire area gets pretty heavy use & the shore is very bristling. The close proximity of the Lakes to tourists could be a problem otherwise. The habitat in sec. 33, that followed rd into lake (Acrop) mixture of conifer + brush - some stands of conifer, some stands of brush. 14 July 0900-1100 Hunted the same area, but still only 1 Fox Sparrow saw several others.
