R.M.Zink 1978 Journal 2mi N Wood Ridge L.O., 5100', Tuckerman Co, California T.2N, R.18E, sec.35 cont. 9 July gets to 6'-7,' At any rate the post-fire succession has resulted in a mosaic - open ground, stands (+ scattered) of live conifer, some young oaks, + varying densities (low or sparse & heavy) + heights (4" to 6') of brushy vegetation (Ceanothus, + manzanita dominant). The Forest Service (?) maintains 6'-10' fire breaks in the brush fields. Had gotten time call. Fox Sparrows - almost impossible to approach w/in 410 range; a singing male (see spp. acct). The site along Cottonwood Rd where I parked was right on 5000' + & climbed some hills to 5180+ there were hills 100-200' high. It's a hot place to work.
