Sec. 35 Tucalonne Ca, California 8 July 11:30 p.m. Tried to call warden (Fred Aulwam) in Turin Haste but got no answer 9 July 0645 - 0845. Hunted the area that I visited 28 May. At 0645 was clear, calm cool, but by 0700 was getting hot + whole afternoon was quite warm. The forest elev. for this spot is 5000-5200. The brush is quite dense + up to 10' tall: there are numerous gaps + trails. The dominant aspect is the large # of standing dead timber. The soil is very fine + there's ~ 2" of loose sixty dust covering most of the ground. Slopes range from 0 - 35°+ face. The dominant brush is , or scattered Leatherthorn + manzanita. Throughout much of the brush there's a scattering of dead logs, branches stumps.
