R.M. Zink 1979 Journal Vicinity of Adin to Lassen Peak. 30 July (cont) At sunheard no Fox Sparrow Again, we mainly worked along road - often from car but in my experience if Foxys are present they will respond - I have not did. However, this area also deserves further work especially earlier in year. There is some Mt. Mahogany pine conifer (Pino pens) near to mixed in at the marginats. We drove to Heyden H.I / L.O. as this is mentioned by Grinnell Miller (1941) as the SW extreme for Fulvet. Could see little likely habitat. Saw Rockhank below L.O. Drove S towards Susanville + cut W past Eagle Lake, to head toward Lassen. 3/ July At 8 a.m. found some inviting patches of brush at J: T. 32 N, R. 10 E - along Hwy through secs 28, 29 & 19. However no Foxys were seen or heard. I'm beginning to think that the birds are not there @ they have left @ they're molting extremely shy in @ you have to be out early a.m. (we ran from 8:30 - 10:45). We drove to West Prospect Pt. L.O. at least then hunted the montane chaparral below, which is where I collected last year & noticed that there is a mixture of brush spp.: 0-75% Rice, 0-20% Castanospermum conferruum, 30-60% monaganta, 30-50% Cleomathus velatums (Tobacco bush), plus scattering to dense Abies + Pinus (Lodgepole,
