Touhee 3f brush - high on Antelope Junco 6f " Fox Sparrow 2 call, heard "(see sp. acct). 30 July (cont.) Drove to Alturas then S to Adin. Stopped at Range Station & talked w/ Jim Gordon, who told of 3 spots that were montane chaparral. O Manganita Ridge @ T.37N,R.9E, sec.12+13 @ T.36N,R.8E,E 2 sec.s.7+18 along road We drove to Manganita Ridge (there's a Calif- Dept. For. L.O. at top). There's extensive area of Arctostaphylos along the 3 1/4 mi. from the main road to the L.O. turnout (+ 1/4 mi. up to L.O.), @2 (the manganita) is mixed w/ trees (first some pine) but looked like excellent Fox Sparrow habitat. I walked through several patches but saw/heard none. Even though it was mid-afternoon, I would have expected to find at least 1 Fox Sp. if they were present. This area deserves further work especially for insect nets between gulch & manganita. We went back through Adin to the main road which led @ a mile E37N,R.9E, sec.12+13 J. There some large patches of +Mt.Mahagny-mexagrantho montana, but
