Went to Forest Service office in Mariposa + talked to ranger who said 'To try Miami Mt, Ponderosa Basin, + ridge to the E of Jerseydale campground. At Jerseydale R.S. Jon Tucker (knows his stuff) - drove from R.S. along Footman Ridge. There is an old burn area (early 60's?). Mostly scrub ~ 1 mi^2. Pr.f.w. Bluebirds (? carrying food) P.S. Towerseveral went to valleys, Scott Jay, Mt. Chidale, w/w. where at forest edge. [Tucker also suggested an area E (~1 mi) of Midpines Miami Mt., or rd. off of Harris Rd - both burned 1962-63] (1030) Spent 20 min hunting the chaparral + found little & for for Sparrow wonder if it's too high for this time of year (elev. ~5000) Also heard a wren (Beritka) that sang from top of dead tree in chaparral sounded (1 time) like Fox Sparrow - Sear Black Phoebe, Junco, Steller Jay, Chipping Sp at forest edge.
