R.M. Zink 1979 Journal Walk & Reno Nevada 10 July (sun.) 15 Forest Farm 100 Caty. Gull - infloated field 100+ Yellow-h, Blackbird 4 Gambel Quail 2 Meadowlark 10 Bl-b. Magpie 2 Robsn 4 West. Kingbird, At Reno got 1/4 Mz + headed back for Benton. Stopped briefly at Mono Lake. Went E on Hwy 1209 took McGee Canyon road. Camped at local # RM 21083. 11 July I took car to Sawmill Rdw., looking for FoxSp. habitat. This sage to 9000' fast sPne, but nowhere did I see manzanita sage community that Hunt (in Lindsay 1928) speaks of. There's lots of young Cegulus tremuloides which looks superficially like Aster-strathlyla, but I doubt seriously if this could have confused Hunt. I took off on a spur to "Cow Can Camp" (4 mi from Sawmill Rdw.) & then continued on an unmarked logging rd. Eventually I came to a grade that was a bit too steep. I tried to back up but couldn't. I then tried several logging roads, hoping they'd connect as an escape. I then managed to get stuck at the bottom/end of a logging road. At this
