R.M. Zink 1979 Journal Trail Canyon 8500-8300ft, Esmeralda Co. Nevada 7 July (wd) This lends to a varied habitat & considerable heterogeneity + several birds not present at 9000-9400 ft, like Cr. -ca, Waller, Rufous S. Tanager, Audubon Warbler . We set 2 nets. 8 July Up 0630+ did forest sen. transect & tried to record Foxgy. - but didn't hear a single ??. Spent most of day indent working on yesterday specimens. In evening took a walk + cell 1 bird. At cloudy up + sprinkled ~ 8:15 p.m. 9 July Up 0630+ did forest sen. transect. Wedged P.Henmit Thrushs & foodwill in net across Trail Cr. Very little Foxgy activity. Was going to Kaughtype the? we netted last night but it screwed up royally + shorted out the battery while connecting the cables for micro. Wasted ~ 3hrs. But still wouldn't turn on. A USPS truck came & saved the day (actually gave me a lift to a meeting mine or a mine came back+ gave us a jimmy. The Forest Sen. person, Brian Miller, told us that the Ho used to be diverted to a mint the town of Candelaria - but neither is extant, hence there is more the flowing down Trail Canyon & this explains the recent deep cuts in the stream(s) one making.
