R.M. Zink 1979 Journal 4 mi, N Dome Rock 2225m, Tulare Co., Calif. 17 June cold, windy + overcast day. At 700ft. the fog is so thick it is essentially raining. There is the usual amt. of dust, 18 June Notus left near the v.low summit around 9 a.m. trying to find a Fast Saw. Dodge vehicle, co commented Dodge (Fox 58.) won't have no jack! Returned ~ 1130 + large coll. & birds. On our fairly lively s/o we returned to camp + did targeted (RM2980) preparations. In evening walked further down road + found a fairly open section w/ Pruno 25%, Rites + Arbutus/la + Ceanothus + Casta/quis =15%, ~40% o/ga ground & luga, lots young pines, sage + rocky s/boulders. We did some forest trees transsects there. The general area is again a mosaic of pine fir-forest + open areas w/ brush, some meadows (Lincoln Spann RM 2-983). Weather again cold + cloudy. 19 June Tried to record Foxgyp. in early a.m. w/ moderate success. Returned + set nets + worked on birds. In evening drove outroad to "Needles Lookout".
