R.M. Zink 1979 Journal Tiger Flat Campground to Aspen Meadow Ken, + Future Co. Golf 16 June to be an area of transition from eldaberry to manzanita + ceanothus. This area could be an import one if the coll. of Fox &g. from around Red Mtn. = Aspen Meadows, two areas of diff. plant spp., + 25 mi. apart. Went to Aspen Meadow Station + asked ranger about chaparel. Should us site along Forest Serv. Rd 21550 where a tornado went through in 1964 + there were subsequent logging + burning activities. We chose this rd.- lots of small paths, only a few extensive ones. We camped at end of small logging road situated from here. Activity was extremely low in mid afternoon + we goin' in morning also. There is the usual mosaic of habitats + micro-habitats - meadow, forest (pine, fir) + interspersed patches of brush- mainly chirpquern (Ceanothus sanguineus) but w/ R. Ices + Arctostaphylos, some ceanothus + other ground plants. &. list for 16 + morning of 17+13: SP II Habitat Remarks B- b.
